First Note - July 20, 2017

From July 20, 2017, this post was my initial message, so there was still more marketing than musing, but it was a start.

Hello to all my favorite people!

Even though it’s summer - a time when you may be on vacation, busy having fun, or just enjoying the weather - much has been happening behind the scenes here in Lotus Land. Of course, I miss seeing you more often, but I hope when you return after your summer fun, our work together will be even better!

— First, I have been in lots of classes, studying ways I can make your experience even more wonderful! I planned to take one course a month over the summer, but was asked to TA for my Ortho-Bionomy® teacher a couple of weeks ago, so I have had 3 classes in the last 5 weeks - Postural Re-Education, Upper Extremities, and Advanced Energy Releases. I’m now just 1 class away from completing the first level of certification and aim to finish that up before September.

This has deepened my understanding of this work, and given me more tools to release strains and reintegrate the changes for lasting results. It’s especially helpful in recovering from injuries — the trauma of an accident or fall can cause muscles to contract and hold to prevent serious injury., but they can get “stuck” in that holding position. Giving them the support and compression to let the “brakes” release can be a big relief, and when it’s followed by the reintegration techniques, helps re-educate your body to maintain the more comfortable position. I’m eager to share this with you, especially if you have repetitive stress discomfort or past injuries that still give you problems.

— Second, I’ve added blinds to the window in our workroom, making it easier to keep a comfortable temperature and light level. No more glare, just nice soft lighting that insulates from summer’s heat (and winter’s cold, too!) It’s just one of those little details that can make our time together more pleasant. A bit of gardening and adding a back patio are making things prettier, too.

— Third, I'm hosting a Reiki Sharing Circle the first Monday of every month at 7 pm, open to anyone interested in learning about Reiki and how it works. Newcomers are just as welcome as seasoned practitioners - we all share in giving and receiving short sessions with 2-3 other people, taking turns on the table. Reiki is a very gentle hands-on practice that is often used in hospitals and hospices in the US and around the world. It’s what makes my hands warm when I’m working and feels so nice for both of us.

If you want to learn Reiki for yourself or for your family and friends, one-day classes are offered quarterly beginning with Level I. I also offer Level II classes if requested, and a year-long Master Reiki program that meets monthly.

Have a wonderful summer, and I hope to see you soon!
